Responsibilities

Hexagon Geospatial is looking for a talented, enthusiastic intern to join our team in Huntsville, Alabama. This bright intern should be a college student or recent graduate. As a member of our Content Team, this intern will work under the direction of other Content Team members to edit technical documentation for organization, content and style, as well as grammar and spelling. The resulting published documentation will be installed on customer systems as part of Hexagon Geospatial software delivery and will also be made available to users over the Internet. The ideal candidate will:

 

  • Interact with software development and QA engineers and members of the Content Team
  • Learn to use Author-it enterprise authoring and content management software
  • Use Author-it to edit technical documentation for organization, content, style, grammar and spelling
  • Develop and execute review processes for edited documentation as needed
  • Publish and upload completed documentation
  • Participate in and contribute to other Content Team projects

Qualifications

  • Must be a currently enrolled college student or recent graduate
  • Field of study must be Technical Editing, Technical Writing, Professional Writing, English or a closely related discipline
  • Experience editing content written by non-native English speakers
  • Excellent proofreading and editing skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to focus in an environment filled with distractions
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment
  • Punctual, self-motivated, and able to adapt to changing priorities
  • Organized and able to meet deadlines
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder
